Foragd July 2026 Update

A quick summary of updates to Foragd for July 2026

Reading time: 2m

A quick update post summarizing the updates in Foragd for July 2026.

What’s new in this update:

  • Semantic Search: In addition to regular searches by keyword and phrase, Foragd now understands topics or areas of interest like “world geopolitical events” or “datacenter legal issues”. As with keyword searches, you can then save that search as a subscription to keep up to date on that topic. Try it out and let me know what you think. Sending a daily update for a search subscription as an email is a feature I am intending to implement as well.
  • Pull to refresh: On the homepage and subscriptions/articles lists, you can pull to refresh on mobile devices.
  • Reading progress: A subtle reading progress indicator is shown when viewing articles.

UX & UI Improvements:

  • Controls: Improved filters/controls on lists, responsive, less cluttered on mobile.
  • Category Filtering: Re-added the ability to filter lists by category. I’m not a big user of categorization in my feeds, so I’d love feedback from folks who use categories a lot on ways they could be more useful in Foragd.
  • Improved Responsive Design: Foragd should look better on tablet-sized screens.

Backend Improvements:

  • I’ve made some more caching and query optimizations that will hopefully speed things up even more.
  • Foragd will better handle gnarly and invalid feeds, which, oh my, occurs more often than you think (or hope).

From the Blog: Article Filtering

I’ve written an article that highlights the per-subscription article filtering you can do in Foragd. This kind of filtering can be key for some feeds and it shouldn’t be complicated or restricted. I think Foragd does filtering pretty well to make it simple and powerful. Hit me up with comments and suggestions on what you think.
